Whitney hails from Stevensville, MD, where she graduated from Kent Island High School. During her high school years, she excelled in multiple sports, earning a total of eight Varsity letters: three in lacrosse, four in swimming, and one in soccer. In addition to her high school athletics, Whitney played club lacrosse for CClax.

After high school, Whitney continued her lacrosse career with the Frostburg State University Bobcats, where she double majored in Health Science and Law and society. As a freshman, she made an immediate impact on the team, earning accolades such as All-MEC honorable Mention and All-MEC Freshman Team. Over her four year collegiate career, she recorded 116 saves and 38 groundballs.
